Torchlight Developer Says No to SOPA
Torchlight developer, Runic Games, is non a fan of SOPA operating theater Genus Pipa.
The Seattle-based developer clarified its position after the issue came up on its official forum.
"The question has been asked regarding our company's official position on the current SOPA/PIPA debate in US Congress," aforementioned a Runic rep. "IT is clear that the scope of the proposed legislation would give unnecessarily broad power to enlarged corporations while reducing the rights of individual citizens — and it won't even up stop software buccaneering."
"We at Runic Games defen the SOPA/PIPA lawmaking and we encourage you to ut the identical."
He went on to encourage gamers to sign up their representatives and join the anti-SOPA community on Reddit.
While Runic's decision to play off the charge is brave, IT's not surprising. It seems logical with the developer's somewhat relaxed attitude towards piracy.
"We got a lot of letters from people locution 'Hey, I pirated your stake, just information technology was very cool, so I bought it,'" aforesaid CEO, Goop Schaefer, in an interview last year. "Y'know, we'rhenium cool with that, we'atomic number 75 not as concerned about that sort of thing Eastern Samoa other companies, especially if it makes our honest players inconvenienced. We assume that everyone is an honest player, and we want to make their experience as cool as possible."
PC computer hardware manufacturer, Nvidia, also recently came away in opposition of the bill, as did Conference of Legends studio, Riot Games.
Runic Games currently only has matchless plot low its knock – the excellent Torchlight. The much-expected, Torchlight 2, was delayed back in November of last year.
